This charming brick townhouse restaurant specializes in Roman Jewish cuisine. The menu features nouvelle interpretations of traditional dishes like artichokes cooked in olive oil and garlic, "stracotto" (a slowly cooked stew of beef and tomato sauce), and (Jewish) Venetian-style fish stew. Pastas, bread, and matzo are homemade; napoleons are a must for dessert. After dinner, adjourn upstairs to the comfortable new smoking parlors. Formal service, white-lily glass chandeliers, and lamps draped with handkerchief linen give the earthy, brick-walled dining rooms a prim elegance. The kitchen here is built around a living tree, and in the summer months there is terrace seating.
Lattanzi Ristorante is an upscale establishment that focuses its culinary expertise on Italian dishes. Expect the average entrée to cost $20 to $30, and dress up -- on the nicer side.
Atmosphere: The restaurant has a rustic décor enhanced by flowers at the tables. With seating for 120 people, the facility has a romantic atmosphere -- frequented by professionals and couples.
More Reasons to Go: There is live guitar playing in the background at this restaurant Tuesdays through Saturdays. Lattanzi Ristorante is appropriate (if not ideal) for anniversaries and other romantic evenings.
Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner.
Details to Note: Reservations are suggested.
Ways to Pay: Cash and American Express
